International User Conference: September 10-11, Berlin
We are delighted to announce that the inaugural Trivantis International User Conference will be held in Berlin on September 10 and 11. Chief Executive Officer Charles Beech will introduce the first event in this annual conference series that will take inspiration from the highly popular global user conference held in the US each year.
Over two days new and experienced users of Trivantis products will be able to learn more about the products and their use in leading companies across the region. Interested potential users can learn from the experience of both veterans and Trivantis partners. They will have the opportunity to meet with Tim Loudermilk, Lectora’s founder and chief architect, as well as the Trivantis International management team. Networking and learning from each other will start with a meet and greet over cocktails on the evening of September 9 and continue through two days of interesting and varied presentations.
Our experience tells us that this event will be very popular, so please book early! You can book at the new Trivantis International website or by clicking here.
CourseMill and Lectora Continue to Evolve with User Needs
April 15th saw the much-anticipated launch of Trivantis’ multilingual authoring software and learning management system (LMS). Customers are creating ever more sophisticated eLearning content with increasingly complex eLearning architectures. They are demanding more flexible authoring tools and learning management systems that cater for eLearning programs with not only local but cross-border implementation.
In response, Trivantis has announced its new multilingual versions of CourseMill 5.0, its leading LMS, and Lectora 2008, its flagship eLearning authoring software product. CourseMill 5.0 is now availabe in Dutch, French, German, Italian and Spanish; and Lectora 2008 in French, German, Spanish and Swedish.
The ability to author eLearning courses in different languages can now be placed in the hands of the subject-matter experts. Regardless of the language a course is created in, students using Coursemill 5.0 will now have a choice of language for their interface. As Simon Birt, Regional Manager for South EMEA notes: “Both tools are continuing to grow as their users’ needs evolve; the multiple language versions will help our channel partners to build on the already widespread adoption of both Lectora and CourseMill in Europe.”
Insight
Each month we feature an insight from one of our executives or reseller partners. To launch this first newsletter we hear from our man in Paris, Simon Birt, Regional Manager, South EMEA.
Welcome to the first edition of our international monthly newsletter. Trivantis is experiencing strong growth in this region, and is proud of the successes achieved by its reseller partners. This newsletter will help us share these successes, and keep in touch with our team of valued partners across the international region, as well as customers and end users. We will bring you news of new customers, case studies, helpful tips, eLearning news highlights, diary dates, event summaries and more as the newsletter grows.
Let me introduce everyone to our new UK-based Regional Manager for EMEA North, Julian Dable, and welcome him to the team. Julian joins us from Cognisco and brings more than twenty years of international software sales expertise. We’ll be hearing more from him directly in future issues, but in the meantime check out his views on how eLearning should perhaps become more bite-sized if it's to appeal to today's information generation.
There are some interesting events and diary dates coming up in the eLearning calendar. Trivantis will be working with its local partners to capitalise on market opportunities at HRD, Europe's largest learning and development event which takes place April 15-17, and the eLearning Show in Accra, Ghana, Africa May 28-30. This newsletter will enable us to keep you up to date with these and similar events in future.
We encourage your feedback and want you to be part of what we hope will be a useful and informative tool. We know there is a lot of valuable experience and insight out there, and therefore invite you to contribute and share your experiences with us, so that together we can help our community to grow.

eLearning Award for
Lectora User
Kirklees Council in northern England has placed Lectora from Trivantis at the forefront of its eLearning training strategy with amazing results. Although it adopted Lectora only 18 months ago, the eLearning team has already created a plethora of online learning tools in house, including an induction course that can cope with the fast-paced changes in personnel and policy and a training and testing process for their recruitment process.
The Council’s most recently developed programme trains users in new email applications, and it was this cleverly engineered and engaging learning tool that won the accolade of “Best Example of Supporting Learners Online” at the 2007 eLearning Awards in November.
Chris Allen, Kirklees’ Senior eLearning and Development Officer, explains how Lectora helped them to achieve such distinction: “Lectora is simple to use but gives sophisticated results: we were able to engage learners by using all of Lectora’s tools, including video, flash, pictures and quizzes. Feedback from the learning community is always positive and on top of this we have clearly made significant financial savings.” The skill and innovation demonstrated by Chris and his team mixed with the interminable flexibility of Lectora as their authoring tool has prompted the eLearning Awards’ citation for “Achieving inclusivity for learners of all aptitudes and abilities.” What more could you wish for?

Comenius with Trivantis are holding an Open Day in Stockholm on May 29 to promote the Swedish version of Lectora 2008. This is a great opportunity to see a product demo of the new Lectora 2008 version, to pick up some tips and tricks from Lectora specialist consultants and to meet Trivantis and the Swedish reseller and consultant partner Comenius. And, or course, Lectora will be available to buy.
